License plates are in the mail, guess I have to get busy with my fabrication of my no new holes design concept. I think I'm leaning towards option C. Option B would be at Texas minimum distance from the ground (12"). Will keep y'all posted.

Anyone know what the tow hook thread is and what length you need to clear the bumper. Obviously no cx90 specific ones on the market, so trying to figure out which universal ones would work
was at the dealer today to pick up some accessories and was chatting with the sales manager if they had any of the tow hooks laying around from new deliveries. He said Mazda stopped sending them and they take them off at the port.
one of the finance managers heard our conversation and came over and said he had a pair from his old cx50 that I could have. Tried the front one and it fit perfectly on the cx90 🙂
From the measurements I took, it looks to be a M20x2 thread.

Now the fun part of trying to find the tow hook license holder.. here are the me

Here is how it looks. This isn’t the final setup; I’m still unsure if I want to mount it with the tow hook (may not stay at a parallel angle to the ground or could twist/loosen if someone bumped into it) or create the equivalent with the 250mm long M20-2.5 stainless steel rod that I got (will mean cutting the thing to length and drilling a hole on the end and creating a thread for a bolt to go in to hold the bracket in place)

it’ll be a little while before I land on a long term solution, but I have something to get by inspection and I’ll be using the other car more in the winter till I get the winter wheel setup anyway

I have done a couple of custom front license plate curtain mounts myself so I know the struggle From experience if you want to avoid messing up the paint a tow hook mount is a great option as long as you make sure it would not interfere with your parking sensors or other front sensors. If you do go with a bracket that screws into the bumper I would say using rubber washers or spacers behind it to minimize damage to the paint and chrome trim. Finally, if you are going with a tow hook plate, remember that it may need adjusting every so often to prevent it from loosening over time, especially after hitting bumps.

Those are the 'bracket to car' mounting screws. They are just stored in that position. You would remove them from there and use to attach to car at dimple locations on the panel below grille.

Edit: instructions on bracket refer to self tapping screws. Those are not. So they may be intended as lic plate mount screws.

Thanks, I figured as much, but couldn't find anything to confirm. You would think they would include instructions packaged with the part.
