First month impression? I’ve found the TireRack ratings and reviews to be pretty good and haven’t been disappointed by their recommendations. The Pirelli Weatheractive tests high and at the top of their segment. My Falkens are near the wear bars at 15,000 miles 😡 and I’m getting a set of the Pirellis in the next week or 2.
I love the Pirellis. I had them in 12+ inches of snow a few days after having them put on (huge Thanksgiving snow storm in Breckenridge) and they did amazing. I have used Nokian tires for years on 3 different vehicles and really liked them but they didn't come in 21s. The Pirellis seem comparable to the Nokians. They are also quiet and handle great in the dry. I am very happy with them. Time will tell how well they wear. That is my ONLY concern at this point.

Our first true “winter” snow storm here in Denver Metro this week (meaning actually cold enough to be icy and snow packed) and these tires revealed themselves as absolute rubbish in the slick.

After driving through 20+ Colorado winters in many cars and countless tires, I can say I’ve truly never had worse tires for the snow, and that includes the budget garbage I ran when I was a broke kid.

Felt truly unsafe and uncontrollable, which is absolutely unacceptable especially for something purported to be a family hauler.

New set of Michelin CrossClimate2 tires are going on next week, and the Falkens are coming off with less than 1k miles on them.

The Falkens are on my 2024 CX90 PHEV as well. Fortunately, we don’t have snow to worry about in North Carolina, but even in the rain, they were skittish. Not even 15,000 miles and they were down to the wear bars already. I just replaced them a couple of weeks ago with Pirelli Weatheractives. So far so good. Much better overall. The steering is a little lighter with the Pirellis but overall a huge improvement in just about every way over the Falkens.

I am also in NC. With my Falkens being down to the wear bars with no tread (except for the rain grooves) and with possible snow Friday afternoon I am so glad I didn’t wait and bought the Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra Tires.

With the noticeable difference these new tires have made on this vehicles ride comfort and handling I am still shocked that Mazda allowed such lousy tires on their flagship. Many of the reviews that slammed the vehicles ride comfort wouldn’t have been so bad if they had only used better tires.

I was thinking the same thing. We’re about to get some rare snowfall in the Raleigh area and I’m glad I just happened to replace the tires. Plus, we may be making a trip up to Pennsylvania in February. They’ve been getting some record lake affect snow. While I didn’t anticipate using these in the winter as much, looks like this year I’ll get to try them out In the white stuff.

Hope you have a safe trip to PA. I am in the Charlotte area and I am presently waiting for the snow to hit the ground. Apparently it IS snowing in the atmosphere, but it is drying before it can hit the ground (the official term for this phenomenon is called “virga”).
