Came from a 2020 CX9, sold it to Carvana and bought the 2025 CX90 a few weeks ago as I was waiting for the second model year and prices to stabilize. Excellent time to buy right now because my dealer was discounting them heavily at 10% off for a Turbo S Premium Plus. While the Turbo Premium Plus was really what I was looking for they had only 1 out of 174 CX90s in stock. Seems that model is the sweet spot for many but because of their massive inventory and discounts on the other trim levels I bought the Turbo S Premium instead. They had 4 Turbo Premium Plus versions coming in February but those would only be discounted by a couple grand. Just could not pass up $6K off.

I have been looking for a replacement for the 4 year old CX9 for about a year. While many say there are competitors there really are none. In fact the closest I came at the same price point was the Buick Enclave Sport Touring. The Avenir version with a trim that is a bit closer to the CX90 was $67K with the options I was looking at.

The only compelling thing about the Enclave is the Super Cruise option which is pretty good. The one issue with it when I did an extended test drive was lane hunt. It would very slowly but constantly swerve left and right when lane keeping which was super annoying and something I would not want to live with. I also test drove a Hummer EV on the same highways and for some reason it did not have this same issue.

While the hands free driving option with the Buick was an attraction the overall quality and specifically the interior is just not in the same league as the CX90 even though it stickered for $10K more than my Turbo S Premium. The fact that the turbo 4 engine is a brand new design from GM was the nail in it's coffin as an actual competitor. Acceleration from a stop was abysmal and the noise that engine makes is just terrible. Really loud and not in a good way at all. The i6 in the CX90 is excellent in my Turbo S version and in another league as well.

Again, in the $50 - $60K segment there was no competition from my perspective. I have owned a Hyundai and will never own one again. I have owned many Honda's and while reliable am at a place in life where completely pedestrian interiors consisting of a sea of cheap black plastic is just not for me. The Kia is just a Hyundai of a slightly different stripe. Not an option. The Grand Highlander is also a non-starter. Zero inventory and the Toyota dealers around these parts are terrible to buy from.

So far for me anyway the 2025 CX90 i6 version is a solid choice and an excellent value at where the current pricing is on them. The fact my dealers service department that I have been servicing all of my Mazda's at for the past decade is excellent made it a no brainer for me. Good luck with your hunt and let us know what you decide to purchase.

Absolutely the worst car I’ve ever owned. Too much that doesn’t work to list, but fair to say, pretty much every feature of the tech/driver support systems have failed or not worked at some point. The only redeeming feature, the second row captains seats. My kids love them. If not for that, having just ticked over 11,000ks, I’d happily get rid of it right now!!! Oh, and Mazda sent me a 3 month survey in which I provided a lot of feedback on every issue. The last question is “would you like a service rep to contact you regarding the issues you’ve raised” which of course I selected yes. 2 months later, still nothing from Mazda!

Daughter took car from Bethlehem to Cleveland. Mild hybrid lost a cell. Local dealer out there said 8 months to get a replacement battery. Worst of the worst cars I ever owned. Wish PA had a better lemon law. Wish Mazda would offer a buy back.

I’ve been doing a lot of research on the Mazda -90 and have found many mixed reviews. I originally wanted the CX-50 and kinda still do … however my wife and I took a test drive in both yesterday and she felt that it was too small ( No jokes please) seriously she felt it was too narrow.
my current vehicle is a 2023 Nissan Frontier that I truly dislike. Her daily driver is a Lexus 2018 GX 460 and that has been stellar. Im loving to replace my Nissan.
Anyway I really liked the CX-90 Preferred package as i feel the base engine and features offer plenty. So as i mentioned there have been some mixed reviews, what says the forum?
Besides first year issues would you guys buy it again .
Thanks in advance
