For those that installed a dash cam, how do you pop off the a-pillar to route the cable? Is it as simple as pulling it off?

I plan on installing a dash cam battery pack and a hardwire kit, but need to figure out which fuses to use for acc power.
I didn't pop off the a-pillar, I just ran the wire between the grooves of the side and top of the pillar and in headliner gap. For the fuses, F5 is switched (acc) and F6 is always on. There are others shown on the pdf's on this thread, but these are what I used.

Thought when hardwiring/routing cables, it need to be above the curtain airbag - not sure if you just tuck it into the pillar or how you did it.

Where's the nearest ground/negative for hardwire?

Forgive my possible use of the incorrect terms but will give my best shot to describe it. The cable goes up along the door side rubber weather stripping, all the way above the A pillar edge, just above that to not interfere with the airbag (groove between airbag and headliner, then continues in the headliner.

I also had a problem with finding a ground, but thanks to another member here I was able to locate one. When you take off the kick panel around the fuse box (I had to because lack of room and routing wire), there is a bolt, head/top facing straight out toward the back of the car that appears to be attached to plastic. However it is connected to metal and I attached the ground to the other threaded side of the bolt using a nut. I tested it first with a multimeter. I suggest you do the same to make sure you have ground before closing anything back up. I didn't do that at first and had to re-do my ground.

Works great, have both a radar detector and dashcam on the same fuse and ground. The power draw is pretty low. Good luck!

I installed 2 fuse taps in the fuse panel near the dead pedal for my dash cam. One for the ignition off recording and one switched power.
I was looking at the fuse diagrams and was wondering what the color code was. Do you know? Thank you

I was able to hardwire a Vantrue n4 pro to a 2024 CX-90 to the fuse by the dead pedal, however the fusebox cover does not fit back on anymore. The hardwire kit is off Amazon, I tapped into ACC and Battery. I am noticing there is not much space in the fusebox area by the dead pedal so once the two connectors are plugged in, they are obstructing the cover from fully snapping into place again. Any ideas or suggestions on how to get the fuse cover to go back on?

My hardwire kit for my VIOFO 229 uses right angle fuse taps. Gives me just enough room to close the fuse panel door. Not sure what options you have available to you, other than finding a hardwire kit that also uses right angle taps.

Mind sending me a pic of those right angle fuse taps look like? Or maybe a link to those fuse taps?

This is what I use for my VIOFO. However, I have to warn you about using accessories that aren’t designed by your dash cam manu. These fuse taps are meant for VIOFO dash cams and the pin out may not be compatible with other brand dash cams.

Hi, Are you talking about this bolt?

I found pretty hard to remove the nut

I can't tell what that picture is showing. The bolt was literally just above the fuse panel in that tight space up there. I can't really show a picture because it is covered with my excess wiring and things. But to avoid the troubleshooting I had initially, you should just test a prospective bolt with a multimeter. I put the red lead on a live fuse and the black on a bolt I wanted to test. Figured it out fast after that. Also, if I recall, I didn't remove any bolts. There was enough thread to put another bolt over it for the ground connection.

can someone please help me locate the fuse for the trunk's cigarette lighter port?
I think i have managed to blow it; and i see multiple fuses in the above attached diagrams that are for accessory port

Ok, figured it out, it's in the box right next to the battery under the hood, F15

Does anyone know if F16 is the Fuse for the Sirius Radio? Or is it F17?

Thanks

I made an account just to reply to this. I tend to look at the owner's manual, as part of my pre-buy investigation/checks.

This? It's not a little thing to me. It's the attitude exhibited. I've never owned a Mazda, and with something like this have no intention of buying. Not now, not ever.
