Does the JB4 work for the 280 hp model. Has anyone installed it on one of the basic models and can speak willing about the results. Just bought the preferred plus one, its a dog 0-60 in 7.2. I was tricked by the loud sound of the engine exhausts. Not cutting it mentally, need to bring it down in the low sixes, is it possible? The exhaust sounds loud, like the dog is going real fast but its not a little disappointing. Overall looks r awesome, handling/ride excellent, interior vg, tech vg, app good, just need and extra half second or more of speed to be thrilled. Maybe Burger is the answer fingers crossed but overall very pleased with CX90 8 seater value. I probably should of spent the extra 150 per month for the 340 hp model and I would of been content.

No need to spend the extra cash. I think the jb4 is what we needed. All the research I can gather says the both engine models are identical just the boost differs. Tbh it wouldn’t be cost effective to create 2 different motors. I think they decided to detune one so the can justify the price. Don’t lose hope

FWIW…The JB4 tuner works amazingly on my base I6 Turbo in Turbo Preferred trim. Just got back from Disney and cracked 2000miles (1500 with JB4 installed) and I left with map 2 as I had the right octane rating mixed and as the trip went on and I needed gas with the available 91AKI, I switched it back to map 1 on the fly from the app. Flawless handoff and performance. I can definitely feel the difference between map 2 vs map 1.

My question is if the map2 gives the same amount of power as the dyno. From my understanding, the jb4 adds based on the stock ecu commands. So if the high-power is calling for more boost as a baseline would the low power version hit those same numbers since its baseline is lower. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Cool same model so we may be looking at-Power gains of up to 70whp and 60wtq on a factory vehicle with only 280 hp. That brings the hp up to 370 and torque @ 400 that should do the trick!! keep me posted can't wait to hear results.

0 to 30 for not modified Turbo and Turbo S with tuner and high octane is exactly the same. it is more about 0 to 60 bragging rights than actual improvement in driving. All power gain is in mid range. Mazda still will be the slowest off line against V6, no matter which tuner you put because transmission response is delayed at least 0.3 s.
See more sense of putting tuner in regular turbo, there is a lot of room for improvement and do not think i t will put any extra stress on the engine.
If you really want CX90 to go faster you need to invest in light wheels and tires, definitely switching form 21 back to 19. They roll faster off line. Realistically you can get custom alloy forged wheels 21 to 22 lb for about 5K ( I mean actual 21lb not manufacturer listed 21 lb scam). You can magnesium alloy for around 8K or magnesium for more than 10K and can weight down to around 16 lb. Know that these prices make no sense but I am certain you would see measurable improvement at initial acceleration. Cutting 60 lb of rotated mass of wheels, can be seen by engine like pulling at least 120-150 lb less, very conservatively. And it is achievable since original 21s are listed around 33lb and who knows how they really weight.

For the trans like most autos I bet the pedal commander or any throttle by wire tuning module will be a huge improvement for actual performance if your looking for better response and tune ability of the shift responses parameters. I keep looking but haven’t seen one yet for this platform available.

So jb4 works on low power model. Already confirmed but just wanted to state that. Map2 in my opinion as of now just brings the car to s-trim power level. Boost is around 18-19psi. That should be the stock level for s-trim if I am correct. I'll contact Terry and see what he has to say. Pulled a 6.2 0-60 on map2.

I was correct in assuming jb4 added boost according to stock parameters in ecu. Preferred trim with jb4 map2 will yield lower hp than strim on map2. Updated map 6 with custom tuning and seeing better results. New 0-60 record holder until someone beats me out

They still have the car, I'll have numbers and dyno graphs sometime tonight. They were able to tell me the stock horsepower number was a little under advertised. Stock power is 325whp, not the 340hp advertised. Stock torque is 390ft lbs, not the advertised 369ft lbs
Usually the advertised horsepower is at the crank not at the wheels. 340hp crank should be about 306whp after 10% drivetrain loss. If yours is making 325whp then that’s about 360hp crank which is more than advertised
