I received my PHEV CX-90 in Canada in June. When it’s arrived I asked the seller to see the screen. I can confirm no touch screen. Just for this reason I canceled the transaction and decided to keep my RAV4 Prime. If they can’t put a touchscreen in a 70k car then for sure you will lose customers.

I think the scroll wheel is cool, and I’m sure it works great for navigating through the car’s settings. It’s just weird to offer Apple CarPlay without a touchscreen. I mean natively it’s a touch interface…it was never designed to be used any other way.
That’s not actually accurate. Apple designed CarPlay to work with directional controls as well, which is why it does.

I’ve had both and prefer the Mazda controller honestly. Everyone is blowing this way out of proportion without even using it. It’s pretty darn good and much easier to use while driving.

There are cases touch is a lot more easier, like type address in gps, drag map around. They should offer touch and let customers decide how to use it.

They do, just on the larger 12” screen only.

Regarding typing in an address, that can be done from the phone or by dictating it. Also, the controller can move the map around by pushing it up, down, left, or right. It works very well while driving.

Trust me, losing touch isn’t as big a deal as you think when you’ve actually used the controller for any amount of time driving. No reaching up to do anything and you can continue to rest your arm on the arm rest and control everything. It’s just better honestly. Again, I’ve used both types extensively.

12" is not availed on Canadian phev.
I know as I had iDrive which is what Mazda copied. I also know to use app to send the address but you need active subscription and using rotary to move map is not as convenient as touch.

I can live with it, and I won't add or deduct point from it. But provide it and let customers choose how to use it is better.

I have a US CX-90 PHEV Preferred with the 10.25" screen, has it been confirmed for sure that it's not a touchscreen and it cannot be activated/enabled?
I have been using the knob just fine, but sometimes I like to pinch and zoom to play with the map to explore routes while driving, the knob wheel cannot do that....
I saw on some videos about other models that it can be enabled, but their instructions don't work for my model.

It’s confirmed by Mazda to not be a touchscreen.

We have an order in for the CX90 PHEV GT up in Canada. However looks like it only comes with the 10.25” infotainment display. I’ve seen conflicting answers on whether that is a touchscreen with carplay or android auto. I’m worried that it will be a full dial control, which I’m not sure I can get used to. Does anyone know whether it will also be a touchscreen? I’m fine with the compromise that it can only work in park (but I’ve seen that there’s an option in the 12.3” version to enable it while driving as well).
There's a LOT of confusion about the CX-90 infotainment screen. We're in Calgary, and just took delivery of our GT trim this week. It has the larger 12.3" screen, BUT it has no touch-screen capability at all. In Canada, the Apple Play touch screen is only available in the In-Line 6 Signature version. Same with ventilated second row seats. I don't know why they gave the In-Line 6 more features than the PHEV.

Offsetting the cost of the PHEV system is my guess. It’s always about margins.

Are you sure? Mazda Canada site says 12.3" "not available" on either inline 6 GT or Phev GT.

MY MISTAKE! I'm sorry to have added to the confusion. The window sticker for my CX-90 GT says "10.25" colour full colour display".

In my CX-90, the 10.25" screen is NON-Touch. As I understand it, the 12.3" is Only Enabled When Parked and Not while Underway. It didn't take me long to get familiar with the knob and here's the kicker ... I really like using Voice Commands: (push the button), "Take me to the closest Costco gas station." ... (reply), "Alright. Let's go!" Easy-peasy.
