HOW TO UPDATE YOUR CARS MAZDA CONNECT MANUALLY WITH LATEST GENUINE MAZDA CONNECT FIRMWARE FILE.

YES, OWNERS CAN DO IT AND YES IS VERY EASY AND NO IT DOES NOT CANCEL YOUR NEW CAR WARRANTY AS THE FILES USED ARE MAZDA AUTHORIZED AND GENUINE SUPPLIED BY MAZDA MOTOR CORP JAPAN TO THEIR MAZDA DEALERS TO USE AND UPDATE.

WARNING: DO NOT USE ANY SMART PHONE TO DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE AND INSTALL OF FIRMWARE ONTO USB FLASH DRIVE....... ONLY USE A WINDOWS 11 PC - LAPTOP.

Be Advised I will No Longer offer Any Support to Mazda Owners who Do Not obtain these Genuine Mazda Firmware Files from Me.
If you Download from YouTube or Other Links then Do Not ask for any help from me if or when it goes bad. Most of the other 'suppliers' do not offer any Support or include Full Instructions and or are issuing the wrong files for your Country or car.
I am simply not prepared to waste my time when some of you are impatient and cannot wait for my reply(s).

Most PC Browsers (Google Chrome or MS Edge) offer Translation from a drop down, top far right.

ALL EXPORT CX-90s USE the 7th GENERATION MAZDA CONNECT.

This Manual update File is ONLY for CX-90s.
Current Genuine Mazda Firmware NOW available is..


7000C0A-NA11_10014.kwi for North American USA, CAN.
7000C0A-EU11_10014.kwi for Australia, NZ, EU.
7000C0A-RU11_10006.kwi for Russia Only.
7000C0A-4A11_10002.kwi for General, Saudi, South America (Not Available).

What I supply is ONLY Genuine Mazda Firmware from my Mazda Dealer Contacts.
Legally links to Download Mazda Connect Firmware can not be posted publicly.
As I have said in the past I am a long term and recent Mazda employee/worker and I will never damage your Mazda or knowingly give out wrong advice.

THE Only Way you will get the link to Download the .kwi File and very easy Instructions from me is to be a Member of this great and growing CX-90 Forum and to then direct 'message' me. Repeat, Links cannot be posted live here or on any other car forum.

I only do this to help other Mazda owners (like me) all over the world, there is no cost to you.

It is easy on how it works the 'higher the number' the Later the Version Number.
The Current for Manual Updating of the 1.15Gb file is Version Number 10014.
If you check your cars Version and it shows 10002 or 10004 or 10008 then it is old and outdated, see the Changelog list below of the Version Numbers and what has been fixed,
many of the bug fixes are Navigation or Communication related ones.

If you Manually Update to latest NA11_10014 these issues below in your CX-90 will be fixed.

IF your CX-90 is sold off the latest Ship from Mazda Japan then you could possibly have this Version or even a newer one, if the number is Higher than 10014 (like example 10015) then there are currently no further updates as it is newer than what is currently available as a Manual Update file from Mazda (Dealers).

OTA Updates via 'Connected Services' and MyMazdaApp is still having issues and frankly IMO it’s a bit too complicated for many users, plus after a certain period in time this Service is no longer complimentary or free, you must pay a subscription for regular OTA access and many of the MyMazdaAPP Features.

Frankly it is easier to manually update your Mazda Infotainment with this current .kwi file, Mazda issues them to Dealers approximately every 12 months.


DESCRIPTION of Known Bugs and the CHANGELOG.
Some vehicles may experience the symptoms mentioned below, which can be fixed with the latest software update to
NEW (Version 7000C0A-NA11_10014) and EU11_10014.

(Ver. 7000C0A-NA11_10014) fixes these software errors (bugs):
  • DTC U3000:47 may not be able to be cleared.
  • An unnecessary warning message for i-ACTIVSENSE system may be displayed.
  • The connection with an iPhone may fail.
  • The CarPlay icon may not appear while CarPlay is connected,
  • The Smartphone device name may not be displayed in the "Set Phone Connection Order".
  • Mazda Connect may not operate.
  • The center display may not show the proper image when a Bluetooth® device connection order is set to user favorite order, and an iPhone, that is new for the Bluetooth® connection, is connected using CarPlay.
  • The Android Auto screen may not appear if the ignition is turned on while an Android device is connected.
  • Calling to Mobile911 may not be available after opening CarPlay display from the mobile device list display when connecting to CarPlay.
  • CarPlay wireless connection may fail.
  • The smartphone may not be charged when a smartphone is connected to a USB port while connected to wireless CarPlay.
  • There may be frequent announcements of "Toll road ahead " with poor voice guidance quality while using navigation on toll roads.
  • The total distance may not be displayed when multiple destinations are set in the navigation.
  • The speed units on the Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) system may be incorrectly displayed.
  • The speed limits guidance may be incorrectly displayed while using navigation.
  • The compass screen may continue after removing and reinstalling the navigation SD card.
  • Traffic information in the SiriusXM® may not be updated.
  • The incorrect time may be displayed while synchronizing with GPS.
  • Speed camera icons may not be displayed on the route while using navigation.
  • Exit information may not be displayed while using navigation.
  • A guidance message may not be spoken when entering a school zone.
  • A guidance message for speed camera may be spoken where no speed camera is found.
  • The screen image may not be displayed correctly when the first crossing is located within 3 miles (5 km) and the second crossing is located further than 3 miles (5 km).
  • A guidance message for Congestion Charge Zone may be spoken where not applicable.
  • Navigation guidance may be displayed in the Active Driving Display and/or the center display even though the SD card is removed.
(Ver. 7000C0A-NA11_10010) fixes these software errors (bugs):
  • The active driving display may not show the navigation information when a navigation route has been set.
  • The center display may not show the distance to the next crossing or direction etc., when a navigation route has been set. They are to be shown in the upper left or right-side area of the center display.
(Ver. 7000C0A-NA11_10008) fixes these software errors (bugs):
  • An incorrect screen may be displayed when communication restriction mode is set while the Driver Personalization System is displaying the authentication result.
  • An incorrect screen may be displayed when connecting to Android Auto.
To Update MAZDA CONNECT with software version 7000C0A-NA11_10014 or later using MAZDA CONNECT OTA Update Instructions or with a USB memory stick using the 7TH GEN MAZDA CONNECT Update Instructions.

If an Owner is having difficulty completing an OTA update or if the OTA update cannot be completed after multiple attempts, update the software MANUALLY for the CMU (Connectivity Master Unit) with a suitable USB Flash Drive memory stick.
OTA does not work as the new updated files are usually too large in size for OTA.

NOTES: Mazda recommends placing only the latest Firmware Version on your USB Flash Drive-Pen Drive. Use a USB Flash Drive up to 32GB, it must be cleanly re-Formatted to FAT32 and No other Files or Pictures can be on your USB Flash Drive, ONLY the correct Mazda .kwi File.

The FIRMWARE upgrades will stay at 100% for quite a while before showing COMPLETED BLUE SCREEN, when you see Blue Screen Push Down ONCE on round Commander Knob for System to Auto REBOOT, DO NOT remove Your USB Flash Drive until AFTER SYSTEM has Reboot.
Patience is required.


NOTE: You can Not also update your CX-90's CMU with another Countries Firmware, like an example of using RU11 Firmware meant for the Russian CX-90.


Again, the CMU will not accept any Connect Files meant for another Country, also with this Gen 7 Mazda Connect you really cannot damage CMU as included instructions are much easier than the old Gen 6 Mazda Connect updates.

To manually perform this manual Update is really very easy, plus one can ONLY Install Genuine Mazda Software your car will accept nothing else but Genuine, this is NOT any Hack or something which will damage your CX-90.

What Hardware is Needed...
Obviously the .kwi Software File which is now updated and then you must have a Suitable USB Flash Drive Unit, like...

TYPE A (Square-Male) to....will also need a USB C Adapter...
TYPE C (Oval Shape-Male)....
YES You can use an ADAPTER Type A to Type C....


DO NOT USE any Multi Port Point Adapter types or style.
DO NOT USE ANY ‘’MICRO USB CARDS’’ MOUNTED INTO ANY USB DRIVE.


GRACENOTE File for Music Album Art can be downloaded directly from Mazda to your PC, you then put onto a USB Flash Drive and install yourself MANUALLY in your cars USB Port...Select your Region first...See Link.

How to Reveal the FULL Version Numbers Screen Below Now Needed in Your Mazda for the Correct FIRMWARE Update Replacement.

1. Turn on ignition or ACC with push button start (with Radio ON).
2. Press the volume mute button and keep pressing it at same time
press the Music and Favorite buttons at the same time for
3-5 seconds and the "Diagnostic Test" SCREEN will next appear.
3. Scroll UP or DOWN this list on screen by TURNING your
Commander Knob up or down (see each Orange Highlighted).
4. Select orange “Service Information” on the screen by
Pressing Down on your Commander Knob once.
5. Select orange “Connected Device Information” on the screen.
6. Select orange “CMU” on the screen.
7. See "Device Version Information CMU" screen.
8. See ECU Software Number '7000C0A-NA11_10008' (Example).
All the Numbers + Letters from 70xxCxx-xxxx_xxxxx is what we need to know.
Record Your Numbers and the hit the RETURN Arrow to Exit Test.

All CX-90 Owners Firmware Starts with..
NA11 for North America.

EU11 for Australia, NZ, EU.
RU11 for Russia.

4A11 for General Markets.

CX-90 Owners in Australia and New Zealand, at this stage I can't help you with update file.

IF you are seeing the problems as listed in Changelog ABOVE then contact your Mazda Dealer and complain that you are having similar issues so they can record this against your CX-90 for later rectification when the new Firmware becomes available for your Region to update.

For those CX-90 Owners in North America like USA and Canada, then YES this update is available from me now, but as I said you MUST privately 'Message' me here in this forum..

For CX-90 owners in Russia, YES there is also a Firmware update for your car Version 10006 for Russia Only, however you must also supply me with your cars full VIN to clarify correct version and I will supply the correct link.

I Do NOT need any VIN for USA or Canada CX-90 Owners who wish to manually update their Infotainment with this Genuine Firmware.

Oh yeah I must add, doing this update Manually yourself will not void or hurt your new car warranty at all, ask the many CX-60 owners in Europe which we have helped.

Mazda Dealers will never know as first they do not usually run updates on a whim and they do not record what Versions are updated to anyway, they simply do not have the time nor do they particularly care.
The Dealer update process and files are exactly the same as I issue you.

However, IF you want to get your Mazda Dealer to do this Firmware Update please get them to do so, BUT there is a BIG Proviso, YOU MUST, Repeat you must Complain of an issue to the Dealer that you are having one of the issues as stated above, like the Navigation Route on screen is not working.

IF you contact Mazda Dealer or go into Dealer and say you understand there is an update for cars Infotainment will you do it for me, then 9 times out of 10 they wont, you must have a Problem as Mazda Pays them under Warranty to tell them what they are being paid for, what is the causal issue or problem the Customer (you the owner) complained about.

Note: YOU CAN NOT INSTALL WRONG FIRMWARE IN ANY GEN 7 MAZDA CONNECT, PLUS YOU CAN NOT CHANGE THE COUNTRY FIRMWARE VERSIONS LIKE NA to EU or to 4A or Visa Versa.

Your Cars CMU WILL NEVER ACCEPT ANY INCOMPATIBLE FILES.

YOU ALSO CAN NOT INSTALL or CHANGE TO ANOTHER MODEL VERSION LIKE NA01 to NA06, or EU03 to EU07 or NA07 to EU07.

You can ONLY Update the Original Version that is currently installed from Mazda in your car now if, repeat if any Update is available like NA11-10008 Updated to NA11-10014.

Did you have HUD working before iOS 17 update? then if yes it is the update which possibly is the cause, this has been an issue for car brands for over a decade, Apple or Google Android dont communicate with them (car manufacturers) particularly well.
And Yes, I would do update or get it done.

As I said above unless you complain of an issue with Infotainment Dealers dont usually flash info, this update Manual release was the first Firmware release Mazda has done for CX-90, it was only released yesterday, so in fairness most Dealers would not be aware.
I would not rely on OTA.
And yes I would manually update.

Oh I forgot, with any software or firmware update on any Phone or PC you should always do a Device RESTART, NOT A Shutdown and Turn on but a ReStart, after ReStart I like to then Shutdown (turn off) device and re-boot or start Phone or PC again, let it fully settle and then do any Device Connections or Plug-ins.
Obviously you can't restart Mazda Connect.

ASH8 rocks! Got mine updated! And got a new USB-C/USB-A dual drive out of it since I didn’t have a USB-C one. I used the default FAT32 format at 128GB and the file was recognized fine.

good to know that the 128 gb works fine. I don’t have a usb c thumb drive and wanted to use the cx90 as an excuse to get one 😂 but didn’t want to just get a 32gb…

Weird Bluetooth connectivity after update to 10010. iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 17.0.2
After update it would not connect consistently. I removed iPhone from Cx-90 known phones and forgot Mazda on the Bluetooth list on phone.
Then reconnected\paired phone to car. Phone sometimes is not recognized and the CX asks to reconnect my phone from the previously know devices. It’s says it’s not connected but the CarPlay green button is displayed, so working under weird conditions, the iPhone does now show Mazda is connected in the phone Bluetooth list.
Last test was to shut off Bluetooth on phone. After shutting off Bluetooth the phone is still connected to the car and CarPlay is still running. How can this be? I did not have it plugged into usb port.
Mazda needs some better software developers.

But it cant ever be the sofware developer's of the Phone can it.
Apple and Google really are PITA with their OS updates, they don't care about any car brands, They like Mazda ALL have ongoing issues everytime there is a phone OS update.

Suggest you delete and remove Mazda paired connection from Phone (also turn off BT on toggle) and car. Shutdown both devices including car off, boot phone let it fully settle, then turn on car, then turn on phone BT, then repair phone and car.
REMEMBER..
These Mazda Dealer firmware updates are a complete OS one.
They are not a small or part download normally associated with the OTA updates.

@ASH8 Thank you for providing the update. Could not DM you directly to thank you due to being a new member.

Successfully updated to version 10. I had the issue with HUD and Google Maps/Waze and hopefully this will address it.

@Freddy You have to DM/message ASH8 directly to receive the download link.
Waze / Google Maps turn by turn directions in the HUD still doesn’t work for me after performing the upgrade. I’m using iOS. I think this is a limitation in the Waze / GM app rather than a bug in the HUD. Turn by turn shows up in the HUD just fine when I used Mazda Navigation or Apple Maps.
