My observations on the CX-70.

* I do not have a problem with the name change because it eliminates confusion. If you want 2 rows get CX-70… if you want 3 rows get the CX-90. For example, one vehicle I considered was the Genesis GV80, it was confusing trying to figure out if it was a 3 row or 2 row GV80 when I was researching vehicles.

* The rear has the full taillight on the PHEV and they added Alexa? This makes me REALLY upset. Hopefully we will get Alexa as a software upgrade in our first year CX-90’s.

*I understand why Mazda took this route, they don’t have the money to develop a brand new vehicle or to even make a shorter version ala the Honda Passport va the Pilot.

* It appears to me that they are making the CX-70 a sportier looking to distinguish it (unique fascia on the front and rear, blacked out, sportier interior colors like red for the leather). Some people who like the CX-70 but want a sportier looking interior may even choose to trade in their CX-90s to get one.

* They really need to give it a SIGNIFICANTLY lower price than the CX-90. If it isn’t $5-7,000.00 cheaper it isn’t going to help much.

* I think they kept the bottle holders for the rear because they can be quite useful. Have you ever had a bottle bounce around in the back of your hatch.
